Start the day with a complimentary pickup from Athol St carpark in central Queenstown, followed by a scenic drive through the town to the start of the trail. Our self guided hike is no more than a 20-minute drive from town and your entire adventure will take around 3.5 hours from pickup to drop off. The 12 mile track is well formed and will suit all fitness levels, perfect for families.


 Hike at a pace comfortable for you, stopping at points of interest along the way. Take in the spectacular views of this incredible trail and enjoy your very own scrumptious picnic lunch prepared especially for you by a local delicatessen.


As you meander along the iconic12 mile trail towards Bob's Cove, listen out for the Tui and Bellbird as they sing feeding on leaves and flowers of the Kowhai, Rata and Fuchsia tree's. Marvel at the magnificent mountain ranges and beautiful shorelines, perfect for skimming stones.

Your tour concludes with a pick up at the end of the trail and a scenic drive back to Queenstown.

Know Before You Go

  • The trail is well-formed and maintained. There are some short steep sections and undulations. Weather will affect the trail and it can become loose, muddy or slippery depending on the season.

  • Wear sturdy hiking shoes or boots and practical clothing suitable for all temperatures and conditions.

  • Bring a sunhat (or beanie if cold), sunglasses, rain jacket, medications (if required), and your camera.

  • You will be given your packed lunch at the start of the hike so a small backpack is advisable. Please contact us if you dont have one as we can provide one to borrow.
